Recently, there has been a rise in conmen pretending to be Kenya Power staff and to curb this, the Jua4Sure mobile service launched in 2015 is the ultimate way to verify whether you are dealing with genuine staff.
The Jua4Sure service is easy to use and fast to respond in case you need to verify the details of the person claiming to be a Kenya Power employee.
Here is how to use the Jua4Sure service from your mobile phone:
First, ensure that the person you see in front of you is the same person whose photo appears on the staff ID tag.
Then, simply SMS the staff number on their tag to 95551 to confirm.
If the staff member is an employee, add an E in front of their ID. If the staff member is a contractor, add a C in front of their ID. E.g. ekp1111 or ckp1111.
The system will respond with:
- Staff no.
- National ID no.
- Staff Name
Don’t be conned. Jua4Sure.
If you find yourself confronted by a fraudster, Kenya Power advises you to report the incidence to the police or SMS 95551
Two more things to remember:
All payments, whether bills or connection fees, should be made to Kenya Power via our banking halls and authorized payment channels. Do not pay money to individuals.
Kenya Power does not offer transformer leases. Customers should report any persons who visit their premises with lease agreement forms requiring them to pay cash.
