As of October 14, 2019, 85.5 percent of fatalities on Kenyan roads were among males while 16.7 percent were females.
Since January 2019, a total of 2,263 men have lost their lives compared to 1,927 who perished in 2018. On the other hand, Kenya lost 427 females in 2019 compared to 406 in 2018.
According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), from January up to 14th October, a total of 2,735 people have died due to road accidents compared to 2,335 people in 2018.
The number of people who were seriously injured stood at 5,119 compared to 3,478 in 2018 while the number of people who were slightly injured stood at 4,105 compared to 3,901 in 2018.
The number of pedestrians involved in road accidents is at 1,049 in 2019 compared to 902 in 2018 while that of drivers stood at 262 compared to 239 in 2018.
The number of passengers involved in road accidents stood at 554 since January this year from 529 recorded in 2018. The number of motorcyclists involved in the road stood at 815 compared to 623 in 2018. Pedal cyclists involved in accidents stood at 55 compared to 42 in 2018.
