Uganda is planning to reintroduce the controversial “Kill the Gays Bill” that will see homosexuals in the country facing the death penalty.
The Kill the Gays Bill was nullified five years ago on “technicalities” but reports now indicate that the government is planning to reintroduce it within weeks and make it law.
The move is likely to put Uganda on the receiving end from the rights activists and the Western countries some of which are likely to cut off funding going to the country.
President Yoweri Museveni has remained critical of those who engage in same-gender sexual activities equating them as “misusing body parts for activities not assigned to them by God.”
Ethics and Integrity Minister of Uganda Mr. Simon Lokodo said that “Homosexuality is not natural to Ugandans but there has been massive recruitment by gay people in schools, and especially among the youth.”
The Minister says the Bill is supported by the President and will be reintroduced in parliament in the coming weeks and it is expected to become law before the end of the year.
