Former President of Kenya, Daniel Torotich Arap Moi has been rushed back to Nairobi Hospital just a few days after he was discharged from the same facility.

In just less than two months, Moi has been readmitted to Nairobi Hospital thrice where he has been undergoing ‘routine check-up’ as family sources have been saying.

The last time Daniel Moi was re-admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the Nairobi Hospital, where he spent more than a week and was discharged when the doctors said he was in a good state.

It is not clear what the doctors have been treating Mzee Moi for, but sources say Moi has been suffering from recurring Chest complications which have resulted in breathing difficulties.

Mzee Moi is said to have been readmitted to Nairobi hospital on the morning of Saturday (09/11/2019) and it is also not clear whether he has been taken to the ICU or a regular VIP unit.

“He was brought back but it is not clear which ward he has been taken to. His security detail is seen around and his family members have also been seen,” said an anonymous source who spoke to a local daily.

At 95, Moi has enjoyed good health since he retired as the president back in 2002 but has struggled with a knee injury, which he got when his car was involved in an accident in 2006. He was flown to Israel last year for knee surgery.

Mzee Moi’s health became a concern when he attended his son’s burial Jonathan Moi back in May 2019 but could not get out of the car and stayed inside until the end of the burial service.

When he was first admitted at the Nairobi hospital, the family sources led by his long-serving press secretary Lee Njoroge said that Mzee Moi was just admitted for a routine check-up.

Mzee Moi has been under the care of his personal doctor David Silverstein. No further reports have been revealed about his current situation.
