Kenyan Stock Market Exhibited a Downward Trend in October top Safaricom Plc Top

The markets on Thursday closed on a high note with Unga Group, Sasini Tea and Coffee, Kenya Airways, Flame Tree Group and East African Cables emerging as the top gainers of the day.

Unga Group gained 9.84 percent at the price of 34.05 shillings per share followed by Sasini Tea and Coffee with 8.88 percent at the price of 18.40 shillings per share.

Kenya Airways gained 8.68 percent at the price of 2.88 shillings per share followed by Flame Tree Group with 5.12 percent at the price of 2.26 shillings per share.

East African Cables closed the top 5 gainers’ table with 2.22 percent at the price of 2.76 shillings per share.

The top losers of the day on Thursday were Longhorn Publishers, East African Portland Cement, Liberty Kenya, Sanlam Kenya, and WPP ScanGroup.

Longhorn Publishers lost 7.55 percent at the price of 6.86 shillings per share followed by the East African Portland Cement with 5.36 percent at the price of 13.25 shillings per share.

Liberty Kenya lost 3.80 percent at the price of 9.62 shillings per share followed by Sanlam Kenya with 2.94 percent at the price of 16.50 shillings per share.

WPP ScanGroup closed the top 5 losers’ table with the loss of 2.94 percent at the price of 16.50 shillings per share.

Safaricom is still the top mover of the day followed by Equity Bank Group, Co-operative Bank Group, East African Breweries Limited and Barclays Bank of Kenya.

Safaricom moved 10.72 million shares with a market capitalization of 1.14 trillion during the session followed by Equity Bank Group who moved 3.44 million shares with a market capitalization of 181.70 billion.

Co-operative Bank moved 1.13 million shares while the East African Breweries Limited and Barclays Bank of Kenya sold 547,900 and 539,400 shares respectively.
