20 New Ebola Cases Reported In DRC As Health Practitioners Pull Out

Ebola

The Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded 20 new cases of Ebola in a period of three days. Authorities say that efforts to end the 16-month old epidemic have been hampered by the consistent violence in the area.

According to the Multi-Sectoral Committee for Epidemic Response, on Wednesday alone ten cases were reported in Mabalako in North Kivu after six were reported on Tuesday.

The health authorities say that this is a significant increase in new cases of transmission which had earlier fallen to ten cases per week.

According to the African news, on 28th November 2019, a vaccination officer two drivers and a police officer were killed on two different occasions in Ebola Facilities in Biakato and Mangina.

These attacks have consequently led to the pull-out of Ebola workers who have been employed locally in Biakato by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Doctors Without orders.
