Kenyan motorists have every reason to smile this Christmas season after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) revised the prices downwards.
The new prices which became effective at midnight on Saturday 14th are set to have little impact on the pockets of passengers who will see an increase in bus fares due to high demand.
In the new prices, the price of a liter of Super Petrol has dropped by 1.09 shillings. A liter of Super Petrol will now retail at 109.50 shillings in Nairobi.
Users of diesel have more reason to smile as the prices went down by 2.83 shillings. A liter of diesel will now retail at 101.78 shillings in Nairobi.
A liter of Kerosene has gone down by 1.75 shillings per liter. A liter of Kerosene will now go for 102.71 shillings in Nairobi.
Interestingly, Kerosene is now more expensive than Diesel in a move that was aimed at discouraging fuel adulteration.
“The changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of averaged landed cost of imported Super Petrol that decreased by 0.52 percent from 463.24 US dollars per cubic meter to in October to 460.83 US dollars per cubic meter in November,” said EPRA in a statement.
