Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino, the Embakasi East Member of Parliament has been arrested in the wee hours of Friday morning, 17th January 2020 after he allegedly shot a man at B-Club in Kilimani area, Nairobi.
Babu who is reported to have shot the man who was a revealer at the Kilimani B-Club is said to have been severely injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Witnesses told the press that the gunshot created confusion as revelers scampered for safety as ladies wailed saying they all thought it was an al-Shabaab attack.
“Even the watchmen were in panic mode. Apparently, it was Babu Owino that had drawn his gun and shot somebody at B Club,” a witness said.

“Ironically, it is the same Babu Owino that shot the man that also rushed him to hospital,” the witness said.
The Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino is not new to controversy and neither is he a rare face in Nairobi’s uptown party life.
The man who was shot by Babu Owino is said to be currently receiving treatment and is in a critical condition and in admission at the Nairobi Hospital intensive care unit (ICU).
Babu Owino, previously a feared student leader at the University of Nairobi was in 2018 together with one of his bodyguards, Fanuel, arrested for assaulting a parking attendant at Fortis Towers in Westlands, Nairobi.
The case of Babu Owino assaulting the parking attendant was to quietly go under the carpet maybe because of his political power.
Babu Owino’s case on assaulting the parking attendant was once heard before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, where Babu together with others who were not before the court, were said to have assaulted David Gichagu and caused him “actual bodily harm”.
Babu Owino is yet to make a statement on today’s early morning shooting.
