One person has died following a road accident in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, 29th January 2020, involving a newly bought fire engine by the Nakuru county.
The fire engine was involved in a road accident around Migaa area which is located along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The fire engine, among several acquired by the County Government of Nakuru for an estimated 50 million shillings was headed for a fire operation.
Rashid Ali, the Rift Valley traffic enforcement officials confirmed the accident saying one person succumbed to injuries while another was hospitalized with severe injuries.
The early morning accident that occurred at 5.30 has occurred when the fire engine hit a truck and a lorry as it was being driven to put out a fire.
“The fire engine hit one of the trucks but driver and co-driver escaped unhurt,” Ali said adding that the early morning accident involved two trucks and a lorry.
The fire engine, the truck and the lorry, all involved in the accident, were headed to Nakuru town from Eldoret.
The victim who passed away was the driver of the lorry who died on the spot after it was rammed into by the truck and later knocked the other from the side.
The co-driver of the lorry sustained injuries and was rushed to Molo sub-county hospital for treatment.
