The deadly Coronavirus has continued to sweep across China even as the Government of Xi Jinping is accused of being aloof in the face of a crisis.
On Monday, the death toll had climbed to 1,016, a rise by 108 from 908 that had been reported on Sunday.
The number of those infected by Coronavirus stood at 42,638 on Monday up from 40,171 a day earlier with about 20,000 being in critical condition.
Since the outbreak of Coronavirus, most cities in China have been under lockdown with residents locked in their houses to prevent the spread of the virus.
Kenya has over 100 students in the city of Wuhan (one of the hard-hit cities) and have raised concerns of the possibility of dying of hunger and thirst since there is no food.
Countries Affected By Coronavirus
So far, 26 countries have confirmed the presence of the deadly Coronavirus with all the infected having lived or traveled to or from China.
Only one case of death has been reported outside China as countries struggle to contain the outbreak.
The affected countries are:
China
Malaysia
Singapore
Taiwan
United Arab Emirates (UAE)
United Kingdom (UK)
Japan
Republic of Korea
Spain
Vietnam
Germany
France
Thailand
Canada
Australia
Italy
Belgium
Philippines
India
Russia
Sweden
Finland
Sri Lanka
Cambodia
Nepal
United States of America (USA)
Interestingly, no African country has reported the presence of the deadly Coronavirus. Some feel African governments are trying to hide the truth from their citizens to avoid panic and trade going down.
Kenya
There have been at least four suspected cases in Kenya but according to the government, all the victims tested “negative” after the samples were sent to South Africa.
Kenya also stopped Kenya Airways from flying to China but ironically, still allows other airlines from China to land and take off from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The Government insists that Kenya is ready to handle Coronavirus if it comes knocking but even now, we still rely on lab tests from South Africa.
