Four people have died after Alshabaab gunmen attacked a bus heading to Nairobi from Mandera in Mandera North today the 19th of February 2020.
The gunmen who sprayed bullets on the Moyale Raha bus have been reported as to have been Alshabaab militia.
The incident that left four passengers dead occurred at the Sarman area in Mandera County.
The management of Moyale Raha bus company said the vehicle left Mandera town in the morning only to be sprayed with bullets as it was heading back to Nairobi.
“We are told the gunmen shot at the tyres but the driver sped off only to get into more gunfire ahead, ” said a source at the bus office.
Mandera County Commissioner Onesmus Kathya has confirmed the incident but said his office is yet to get the details.
“Something has happened but I am waiting finer details”, said Kyatha.
This is the first case of an Alshaabab attack in the month of February while January experienced five attacks that left civilians and security personnel dead and injured.
