Koffi Olomide Set To Return To Kenya, 4 Years After Dramatic Deportation

Koffi

If Congolese Rhumba maestro Koffi Olomide was not known in Kenya, then the incidence of him assaulting his dancer four years ago leading to his immediate deportation and uproar as Kenyans swore not to attend his shows then.

Four years later, the incident happened in 2016, an apologetic Koffi Olomide says he misses Kenya and adds “I will be in Nairobi very very soon”.

Koffi shared a video on social media platforms where he apologized to Kenyans for depicting what was gender violence after he kicked one of his dancers at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Koffi thanks the Kenyan Government, in the video where he informs Kenyans that he is coming very soon, for lifting his persona non-granta declaration which prohibited him from ever stepping on the Kenyan soil.

“Jambo Kenya, this is Grand Mopao, Koffi Olomide, first I apologize and sincerely, I’m sorry for what I did wrong. Everybody affected by what I did, I apologized,” Koffi says.

“I want to thank you for the Government of Kenya because the government endorsed me to come back to the country,” Koffi adds and continues to praise Kenya.

“I missed Kenya so much, the country of my life. I miss you Kenya so much. Soon I will in the country. I miss you Kenya so much,” Olomide says.

“Soon I will be in the country to meet my fans one by one for a selfie, and we will announce the date for the coming back of the King of Africa in Kenya,” Koffi Olomide concluded the video that has since been widely shared and viewed.

Koffi Olomide, in 2016, complained that the Kenyan government had treated him and his team as ‘animals’ and deported him and his dancers to Congo ‘without their passports’.

The next hurdle for Olomide remains to be, do Kenyans want Koffi Olomide to come and perform and will they be willing to pay to watch his performance?
