Kenya now has a total of 59 positive coronavirus cases as of today, 31st March 2020, after 9 samples of 234 samples that were analysed have tested positive.
Making the daily brief, the Ministry of Health has announced that the government is continuing with the effort to trace the contacts of the 59 people.
The ministry of health has however not revealed which counties the 9 people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Kenya come from.
1,660 contacts are being monitored according to the Ministry of Health which has continued to urge Kenyans to stick to social distancing in their way of helping the country combat the spread of the coronavirus.
Isolation Centres
The ministry of health has noted that it is working hard to build capacity to be able to prepare according to the projected number of infections.
As of now, the Ministry of Health has announced that Mbagathi Hospital has a capacity of 120 beds and is offering testing and isolation services in the fight against coronavirus.
The Kenyatta University Referral Hospital and Research Center which is on the process of equipping have a capacity of 300 beds according to the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry of Health has also revealed that it is exploring the use of boarding schools as isolation centres if the number continues to spike and has noted that the government is currently working to identify schools in various counties in the country that can used as isolation centre.
The Ministry of Health has further thanked health workers for their sacrifice and courage in combating the coronavirus outbreak in Kenya saying they do know and understand that they are working under tough conditions
The Ministry of Health has revealed that it is working to employ a thousand more health workers to help in the fight against coronavirus.
