Serena Hotels are temporarily closing operations for the next two weeks citing a heavy hit to their business following the coronavirus outbreak in the World.
“Never in the 40-year history of Serena Hotels has any event of this breadth and scale impacted the global hospitality industry than COVID-19,” the letter obvious of sadness details.
The Hotels will be closing their hotels in both Kenya and Tanzania following a now revealed heavy negative impact on the hotel’s business.
“We have been following the COVID-19 situation very closely and its emerging impact on our business model and portfolio in Africa,” The Hotels says in the message released to media houses.
The letter written by the Managing Director of the Hotels cites a difficult time in the economics of the World saying the impact on finances following the COVID-19 cannot be calculated.
“It is indeed impossible today to calculate the human and financial impact that COVID-19 will have on the global hospitality industry,” the letter reads.
“In anticipation of reduced business levels during 2020 and in line with the government directives and protocols, management observe with the priority that,” the letter continues.
“Taking care of our staff, their dependents and their quality of life to the extent possible is critical and liquidity risk management is key,” the letter by Serena Hotels explains.
“As we navigate this unprecedented crisis and build on the company’s resilience and adaptability, whilst keeping destination Kenya and Tanzania in the minds of the business and leisure source markets,” the Hotels write.
“It is with a ‘heavy heart’ that we advise that the Lodges and Camps below will temporarily cease operations until 15th June 2020,” the statement reads continuing to list the hotels as below:
