Five people have died a grisly road accident involving a lorry and a car along the Nyeri-Nanyuki highway near Naromoru a few minutes to the curfew.
Confirming the accident that claimed the five lives, police have said the accident occurred after the car collided with the lorry a few minutes before the curfew hour on Tuesday, 2nd June 2020.
The five who have since died in the Nyeri-Nanyuki accident were all occupants of the car with questions arising on the number of people in the car yet a Presidential order restricts occupancy in such a car to a maximum of two passengers.
The road crash occurred around the Naromoru area which is between Nyeri and Nanyuki.
The truck driver has since gone missing and it remains unclear whether there were any other occupants in the truck.
The five bodies are yet to be identified and have since been transferred to the Nyeri Level Five Morgue.
The five who died in the Naromoru accident were aboard a personal vehicle registration number KCR 362K.
Sadly, road accidents continue to claim lives in what is becoming an apparent flouting of rules meant to curb the spread of coronavirus.
Barely two weeks ago, Kikuyu Benga artiste Jimmy Wayuni was involved in a road crash past the curfew hours that claimed his life.
NTSA has noted that even though the curfew and number of passengers supposed to be in a car in measures set to curb COVID-19 should have had a positive impact in the number of road accidents, Kenyans have turned it to a cat and mouse chase with the police.
Kenya has reported more deaths this time compared to the same duration last year according to the NTSA.
Police in Narumoru is yet to identify the driver of the blue truck that was involved in the crash that claimed the five lives.
