The Ministry of Health has today through CAS Mercy Mwangangi has announced an additional 178 positive cases raising the total number of confirmed cases to 5,384.
The 178 COVID-19 positive cases registered in the last 24 hours are out of 3,918 samples tested within the same duration with Kenya so far having tested 155,314 samples.
The 178 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours according to Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi include 3 foreigners with the youngest of all the new cases being a 1-year-old and the eldest being a 76-year-old.
As has always been recorded males continue to lead in the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 with 123 of them testing positive in the last 24 hours while 55 females tested positive in the same duration.
The COVID-19 cases announced by Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi are spread in 11 Counties as follows:
Nairobi – 100
Kajiado – 21
Migori -17
Kiambu – 16
Busia – 8
Mombasa – 7
Machakos – 4
Nakuru -2
Uasin Gishu, Taita Taveta, Kericho -1 each
On a positive note, the Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi has announced that 34 people have been declared free of COVID-19 raising the total number of recoveries to 1,857.
Sadly, two more people have died from COVID-19 bringing the total number of fatalities to 132 in total since the first COVID-19 case was announced on 13th March 2020.
To date, 40 out of 47 counties, have reported cases of Covid-19, which amounts to 85 percent of the counties in the country according to the Ministry of Health.
Nairobi is leading with 2,428 COVID-19 cases, followed by Mombasa, with 1,304, then Busia and Kajiado, with 361 and 179 cases respectively because of cross border issues according to the Ministry of Health.
Kiambu county has a total of 155 COVID-19 cases, Uasin Gishu- 66, Migori – 59, Kilifi – 52, Kwale – 51, Machakos – 44, Nakuru – 32, Garissa – 25, Taita Taveta – 25, Kisumu -20, Mandera – 18, Wajir – 17, Meru – 15, Turkana – 15, Siaya – 12, Kitui – 11, Nyeri -9, Bungoma -7, Isiolo -7, Murang’a -6.
Homa Bay County has a total of 5 COVID-19 cases while Kisii -4, Kakamega -3, Kericho -3, Laikipia -3, Makueni -3, Narok -3, Embu-2, Bomet -1, Elgeyo Marakwet -1, Kirinyaga -1, Marsabit -1, Nandi -1, Nyamira -1, Trans Nzoia -1 and Vihiga-1.
