President Uhuru Kenyatta has today nominated Nancy Janet Kabui Gathungu to take over the office of Auditor General out of the three top candidates who have undergone rigorous interviewing.
Janet Kanini Gathungu’s name has now been forwarded to the National Assembly according to a statement from State House.
Janet Kabui was picked by the Recruitment Panel in the heavily contested position that has taken almost a year to fill and has triumphed over a number of great candidates.
Ms. Gathungu will be taking over from where Retired Auditor General Edward Ouko left since his retirement in August 2019 after serving the country diligently for eight years.
In a statement by State House spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo, she said Gathungu was the first among the top three candidates presented to President Uhuru Kenyatta for nomination by the Recruitment Panel.
Gathungu is currently the director of Audit at the Office of the Auditor and was among 10 accountants shortlisted for the job but integrity
