President Uhuru Kenyatta lifted the cessation of movement that had been in force for the counties of Nairobi, Mombasa, and Mandera, allowing Kenyans to move freely in and out of these counties.
The CS has disputed claims that Mbagathi Hospital has been charging between 5,000 and 7,000 shillings for testing Kenyans of Covid-19. The CS says the government is charging 1,000 shillings for “those who feel the need to test and go to a government hospital.”
According to Evans Kamuri, the CEO of Kenyatta National Hospital, Mbagathi Hospital is now specifically only for confirmed cases, the very sick, in a bid not to expose more people. “When picked from the county, we charge 1,000 shillings,” he said.
Mutahi Kagwe says Kenyans should take it upon themselves to protect themselves and their loved ones against the virus. “You cannot whip people or put them in prison to make them understand there is a disease. There is Covid-19, even little children are singing they can get it,” he said.
