19 Kenyans have lost their lives to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 253. The government has called on Kenyans to expect more fatalities in the coming days as cases surge.
In 24 hours, the country has registered 418 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 13,771. The numbers of the new cases have been surging especially after the Head of State lifted the cessation of movement and opened up the border.
263 Male & 155 Female aged between 1yr-86yrs. 494 patients discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 5,616. The Ministry of Health has warned Kenyans that cases are increasing rapidly and that Kenyans should remain vigilant.
The rise in cases had led to President Uhuru Kenyatta convening a special summit to discuss a surge in the cases. The summit will take place on Friday. It is expected that the President might impose another lockdown to tame the spike.
According to Health CAS Rashid Aman, a total of 526 health workers have so far tested positive of Covid-19. Rashid says the government is working to ensure that as many infected persons as possible are taken care at home on home-based care.
