At any given time, most of the barbershops within the city are often packed to capacity with men waiting on the line to be “served”. Even with the increase in Covid-19, you will not fail to find men at these barbershops.
In most cases, you will find fat men, thin men, tall men, and short men, some with hair and some without, waiting to be “shaved.” But have you ever asked yourself why so men are flooding these joints every day?
The truth is 90 percent of men who are visiting these barbershops are not doing so for the purpose of shaving their hair but for what happens after the shave. It is what happens after the shave that defines what “real service” is at some of these places.

Men are flooding these barbershops for an amazing “customer service” in the name of “an after-shave” that is actually working miracles and having men growing hair overnight and going back for more.
These barbershops have employed beautiful ladies, more beautiful than some of our models on our TV screens. The work of these ladies is not to shave but to “offer amazing customer services” that only men can be asked to rate.
Once the customer has been shaved, he is moved to another stage where his head is washed with warm water while being scrapped by the tender hands of a beautiful lady. The next stage after the head has been scrapped is that of massage. The beautiful lady will lean the head of the man, place it between her warm and tender breasts then begin to massage it in a “miraculous way.”

After the massage of the head, the shirt of the man is loosened then his shoulders and back are given a tender touch never received before. His face and neck then receive an amazing “anointing” of oil, leaving it smooth and smart.
“Most men who come to shave are married men. We make them relax and feel at home. We relieve their stress. We are here to give them the best,” said Jane (not her real name). She works in one of the barbershops in Nairobi.
“Interacting with these men has shown me that men go through a lot. Some are at a point of running into depression and just need a place to have peace and relax and they get it in a Kinyozi. We listen to them without them talking,” said Amina (also not her real name).

Most barbershops have also gone a notch higher by having a massage (this being a small room with an extended thin massage bed away from the eye of other customers.) This small room is what carries all the magic.
In this small room, men are given one of the best massages one will ever find. But that is not it, the best part is an “extra.” In most cases, a man will be asked if he needs a massage or a massage with an extra.
An extra is that “happy ending” that the customer is given which involves a blowjob, handjob, or sex. Most men will choose… You know what they will go for. All these are done for between 1,000 and 1,500 shillings.
“There is nothing that makes me relax like a massage after a long day of work. This place has amazing services. Amazing human beings. That is what we men want,” said a customer at a barbershop along Luthuli Avenue.
“Let me tell you something,” he said, leaning forward, “we men do not care about love, mostly. What we want is respect and peace of mind. We go where peace is given.”
