Government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has today revealed that he has tested positive for coronavirus.
Cyrus Oguna confirmed that he got tested after developing symptoms similar to the Covid-19 after returning from an assignment outside Nairobi and after undergoing testing, the results were positive.
The government spokesperson says his family members are safe and he is currently under self-isolation.
“Recently, having come from an assignment out of town, I developed mild coronavirus related symptoms and got tested. The results came back positive for Covid-19 and I am now receiving medical care and responding well to treatment at an isolation and treatment facility” he said
Oguna has urged Kenyans to adhere to containment measures put in place by the government saying the disease is real.
“Contact tracing is ongoing and my family is ok. I urge Kenyans to take this disease seriously and take all the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected,” he added
He dismissed reports that emerged last week that he had contacted the virus saying contrary to the reports he was well.
