Kenya has recorded 497 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 10,791. In 24 hours, the Ministry says that 4,922 samples were tested.
As the cases continue to increase, the Ministry of Health is calling on Kenyans to continue being vigilant given that the majority of them are disregarding the guidance set by the government.
The country has recorded 5 more fatalities taking the total number of fatalities to 204. On Monday, the highest number of fatalities was registered, at 12.
Recoveries today were 71, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,017. The Ministry says some patients have managed to recover from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“Home-based care becomes quite critical in the country, it is about individual responsibilities of adhering to the mitigation measures,” said Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi.
On Tuesday, the government confirmed that 41 staff at Pumwani Maternity Hospital had tested positive of Covid-19. Nurses at the facility had threatened to go on strike saying the government has not given them protective gear including PPEs.

The total number of Kenyans who have passed through the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is 163. A total of 90 of them have since recovered and discharged. 73 of them have died. As of today, 36 Kenyans are still in the ICU.
