Edward Mwaniki Kabachia, a Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) detective, based at Kisauni, Mombasa was arrested on Wednesday 19th for allegedly taking money by false pretense.
According to the DCI, Edward was arrested following an incident where he obtained a substantial amount of money from a lady by falsely pretending that he was capable of securing her two relatives’ jobs
Kabachia promised to give her relatives jobs at the Kenya Prisons recruitment exercise held in 2017.
“He obtained a substantial amount of from a lady by falsely pretending he was capable of securing her two relatives job vacancies in the Kenta Prison recruitment exercise held in 2017” Part of the statement by DCI read.
His arrest follows the conclusion of an inquiry by DCI Likoni. It was recommended that the officer be charged with the offense of obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Sec 313 of the Penal Code. He will be arraigned in court today.
His arrest comes just a day after two other officers were arraigned in court within the city over theft at government stores within Industrial Area Prison Department.
Two weeks ago, three sleuths from the DCI were arrested for involvement in the robbery with a violent incident that occurred at Baraka Gas Company in Matuu-Machakos county.
The three officers from the Special Service Unit were arrested for an incident that happened on July 31st.
In the recent past, cases of cops breaking the law have been on the increase forcing the office of Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to send a stern warning to all officers.
