Thika Superhighway To Be Closed For Two Days This Weekend

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the closure of a section of Thika Superhighway for two days from Saturday 8th to 9th August 2020.

In a statement sent to media houses on Thursday 6th, the Director-General of KURA, Eng. Silas Kinoti notified the general public that outering road overpass at GSU headquarters would be closed from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday and Sunday to allow installation of a footbridge truss.

“Thika bound traffic are requested to use KCA University underpass to join Thika Road. Motorists are advised to take precaution while approaching the area and follow the respective signs,” part of the statement read.

The authority apologized to motorists and to the general public for the inconvenience as they endeavor to provide an efficient urban road network.

“We apologize for the inconvenience that may be caused as we endeavor to provide an efficient urban road network,” said KURA.

Part of the Thika Superhighway has been under construction since August 2019 rebuilt for a new interchange at Allsopps that is expected to ease traffic at the junction of the busy highway and OuterIing Road.
