It is that season again for Kenyans. The season of words. Big words. Small words. Thin words. Fat words. Tall words. Short words. Politicians are now up on their feet, spewing venom across the country and service has been thrown out through the window.
A visitor to Kenya might be forgiven to think that an election is due in one month’s time. Every politician seems to be in a campaign mood. Moving up and down, traversing the country as they promise to “inject fresh blood in the leadership” they are in.
Even the President himself, whose second and final term comes to end in 2022 seems to be campaigning. He seems to be worried that his term is ending so fast and his handlers might be pushing him to change the law to extend his rule.
Others are already drumming for BBI. They are telling us to support BBI, a document that even themselves have not seen. Others are against the BBI, a document that they have not even seen. It seems Kenya will never run out of fools. Nit today. Not tomorrow.
Even in the middle of a pandemic, nobody seems to be caring anymore. It is like the country has chosen to go the way of John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania; forgetting that Covid-19 ever existed.
But in all the political noise, the economy is suffering. Covid-19 has affected so many sectors in Kenya. Businesses have shut down and millions of people have lost their jobs. There is no hope for the majority of Kenyans and they are crying for help.
With the politics ruling the airwaves, Kenyans are on their own. They should get used to the idea that nothing good will ever come out of their politicians other than politics. What can we do as Kenyans to stop these people?
