One King Kaka called us wajinga. Fools. And he was right. Sometimes our foolishness stinks to the higher heavens. The most sickening thing is, as Kenyans, we never want to admit that we are the epitome of foolishness when it comes to making political decisions.
We are fools. We have the memory of a warthog. We are always reacting to situations and forget immediately the sun goes down. Our equally ignorant politicians know this and are always using it to exploit us as we sing Hosanna Hosanna Hail Mary to them.
Our foolishness is the reason this country will continue being in the hands of the least qualified, the corrupt, thieves, rapists, and drug dealers. It is the reason why our future generations will always be born into poverty as wealth flows into the pockets of few.
The greatest problem with us Kenyans is letting politicians convince us that they are not the problem but the Constitution. They have made us believe that the Constitution is the problem and that if it is changed to fit what they want, things will be fine.
Changing the constitution with the same corrupt and power-hungry politicians and expecting different results is actually foolish. Ujinga. Same politicians? Different results? Mheshimiwa, oilisikia wapi? Wee olisikia wapi? Kenya? Mmmh?
In Kenya, we are busy changing forests while maintaining the same monkeys and expecting different results. We are putting hyenas in charge of sheep and when sheep start to get lost we loudly wonder why. We are fools and we should come out of that folly.
We now have the BBI. The atmosphere has changed and drums for and against it have started beating. All manner of ignorance is being displayed, from politicians down to the common man on the ground. Let me tell you for free, BBI is not a solution to our problems.
Kenyans politicians do not care about you. The earlier you realize that, the better. They give no damn about you. Whether you die or you live is none of their damn business. They only care about their interests and their interests alone.
Even if this BBI thing goes through, and then they do not get what they want, after five years, they will come back to tell us that the BBI is bad. That we need another one. They will coin phrases as RTLG (Reclaiming The Lost Glory) and we shall still dance to the reggae tune.
It is time to be awake.
