Pauline Juma, The Rebirth Of A Queen, Hope Among Girls

I have never met Pauline Juma in person. I have interacted with her virtually on Twitter and I have come to realize that she is a soul to behold.

Even though we have just interacted on Twitter for a few weeks, I have come to notice the big heart, the real humanity behind the big smile that she possesses.

Pauline is the Director and Founder of Rebirth of a Queen, a safe house that provides shelter and hope for girls running away from forced marriages, domestic violence and sexual harassment.

Being a journalist, and telling her stories through the silent success of her work, Pauline has managed to house 13 girls, some of which have given birth while one is expectant.

“2020 is my 9th year of being a survivor of rape and my 5th year of domestic violence, and here we are, rising from the ashes,” she says, through her pinned tweet.

In a series of tweets, Pauline Juma (she has the last name similar to mine), rarely talks about self but the work that she does and the dream that she has in giving hope and future for girls not just in her locality but across the country.

“Running a shelter in not a ride in the park but a satisfaction to the heart. I manifest abundance and blessings,” she says in her latest tweet.

For long, from what I have gathered from her own stories and those who know her, Pauline Juma has been running the safe house using her own finances, and sometimes from Kenyans of goodwill.

Such an act of selflessness in rare in this country and no words can describe it. You and I can help Pauline Juma, by visiting her organization, by donating whatever you have; money, clothes, sanitary pads, and food.

We are Kenyans and being Kenyans is our business. We have always helped each other and we can.

God bless you.
