Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha on Monday 16th November announced that all schools will reopen on January 4th, 2021.
CS George Magoha was speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) in Nagara, Nairobi after being directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to make public the calendar.
“All schools will reopen fully on the 4th of January 2021. This will apply to PP1 and 2, Grade 1,2 and 3, class 5,6 and 7, form 1,2 and 3 learners”, said CS Magoha
He added that all four-year-old will join PP1 in July 2021 while all PP1 and 2, Grade 1,2, and 3 classes 5, 6, and 7 and form 1,2, and 3 will start their second term on the 4th of January and end on the 19th of March together with the examination classes.
CS Magoha said that the government has masks in stock but don’t mind getting extra from other stakeholders. He added that schools are the safest environment for learners, even as the Covid-19 infection rate continues to surge.
Magoha said that all learners except Four will proceed for a seven-week holiday to allow for KCPE and KCSE marking
Magoha’s remarks come amid undertones to have schools fully reopen for learners yet to report back eight months since closure in March.
In the last report, students in Pre-primary one and two, grade one to three, class five to seven as well as those inform one to three were to report back to school from October 26th November 2nd
