Ugandans are calling last Wednesday the “BLACK WEDNESDAY”. 3 Ugandans are said to have been shot dead by security forces in Kampala, and tens of others seriously injured. Interestingly, no media house was covering the riots live.
Ugandans took to the streets of Kampala to peacefully demonstrate and demand the release of the presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu (Bobi Wine) who was forcefully arrested and brutally beaten by the Uganda Police on his way to a political rally.
In a video that was circulating on Twitter, policemen dragged Bobi wine like a mad dog into a police truck, locked it, and dropped in a full teargas canister, the video shows how Bobi wine didn’t try to resist arrest, but police still manhandled him.
On hearing about the arrest of their only hope, the flag bearer of change, Bobi wine, the supporters stormed the streets shouting #FreeBobiWine, as usual, the dictator released brutal men in uniform to slaughter Ugandans in broad daylight.
The Ugandan police were poured into the streets of Kampala where they embarked on firing live bullets at unarmed citizens who were peacefully protesting. Others who were just following the events from a safe distance in their shops were caught in the mix of the flying bullets that hit them.
Disturbing images of Ugandan without legs, mouth hands, and dismantled heads broke the internet on Wednesday as Ugandans begged and pleased with Uganda police to #StopPoliceBrutalityInUganda.
Although media houses are supposed to be covering such happenings in the country live, all media houses in Uganda were silent, broadcasting and tweeting about animals and other stories but not the live police brutality.
NTV Uganda was the only media house broadcasting and tweeting to inform Ugandans about what was happening, however on police realizing, their cameras were confiscated and the entire nation went dark. Ugandans started using phones to record as they cried for help.
Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) the country’s biggest media house was silent, broadcasting completely different stories. So did all other media houses in the country apart from NTV Uganda.
The fact that the nation was bleeding and no media was ready to cover and air only means Uganda’s media and the press is censored, the dictatorial Museveni reduced to the standard of the press to that that he can control.
More Ugandans have stormed Kampala streets today (Thursday) 19th November 2020 still demanding the release of their presidential aspirant Bobi wine, the army will soon arrive to control the angry crowd therefore, more lives shall be lost.
Currently, sources said Bobi Wine is being detained at Nalufenya Police, Uganda’s leading torture center, according to sources. Bobi Wine’s lawyers tried to get him out on bond but the aspirant refused and chose to spend the night at the station.
Upon his arrest, Bobi Wine encouraged his people to not give up on the struggle for change, he warned that the regime wanted to silence him but the people should not keep silent. Bobi Wine has not appeared before the public since his arrest.
