There will be no smiles at the pump this festive season after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) increased the price of fuel that will be in place to January 2021.
In the new prices, Super Petrol has gone up by 0.97 shillings per liter, Diesel up by 1.12 shillings per liter while Kerosene has been increased by 1.93 shillings per liter.
“The changes in this month’s prices are as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Su[er Petrol increasing by 0.65 percent from 316.64 dollars per cubic meter in October to 318.71 dollars per cubic meter in November 2020,” said EPRA in a statement.
The average landed cost for Diesel is said to have increased by 1.75 percent from 288.83 dollars per cubic meter to 293.88 dollars per cubic meter. The landed cost of Kerosene, on the other hand, rose by 6.16 percent from 261.17 dollars to 277.27 dollars per cubic meter.
Mombasa residents will pay an average of 104.43 shillings for a liter of super petrol, 89.43 shillings for diesel, and 81.17 shillings for Kerosene. These will be the lowest prices given the proximity to the port of Mombasa.
Those in Nairobi will have to part with 106.82 shillings for a liter of super petrol, 91.82 shillings for diesel, and 83.56 shillings for that of kerosene. The same prices will apply for those in Thika.

“Over the same period, the mean monthly US Dollard to Kenyan Shilling exchange rate depreciated by 1.12 percent from 109.14 shillings per dollar to 110.36 shillings per dollar in November,” said EPRA in a statement.
