President Uhuru Kenyatta has banned all co-curricular activities in schools as schools set to resume on Monday, January 4, 2021.
While announcing new measures to contain the readily Covid-19, President Uhuru Kenyatta, in a statement read by Dr. Fred Matiang’i, has banned drama, football, athletics as well school exchange programs.
Teachers aged 58 years and above will be required to teach remotely or in classrooms that are in an open places like under trees.
At the same time, President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended the daily dusk to dawn curfew to March 2021. The curfew will be starting at 10 pm and ending at 4 am.
Public gatherings have also been banned for the next 60 days. The ban on public gatherings, however, seemed to be just for the poor people given the political meetings that are set to take place.
Crowds at funerals have been retained at least 150 people with chiefs expected to ensure that the rules are followed.
The extension of the curfew has infuriated a section of Kenyans who feel the Curfew has nothing to do with the fight against Covid-19. Some feel the move is more about security than Covid-19.
