Zimbabwe has lost three powerful ministers to Covid-19 in a span of one week and the government is now threatened a total lockdown.
The latest to kick the bucket is the Minister of Transport Mr. Joel Biggie Matiza who died on Friday after being admitted with Covid-19.
His death came after the death of foreign Minister Sibusiso Moyo who succumbed to Covid-19 on Thursday. Minister of Provincial Affairs Ellen Gwaradzimba also died during the week from Covid-19 complications.
Currently, the Vice President of Zimbabwe Mr. Constantino Chiwenga is currently under Intensive Care Unit outside the country fighting for his life after contracting Covid-19.
The virus has killed various top politicians and government officials in Zimbabwe.
Earlier in the day former Education Minister Aeneas Chigwedere also succumbed to COVID-19, and after Matiza’s passing came word that Paradzai Zimondi, 73, former head of the country’s prisons, was also claimed by the virus.
The government is now considering imposing a total lockdown in one of the poorest countries in the world hit by the worst inflation in history.
