Kenya Airways has announced a temporary suspension of flights to France and the Netherlands due to the Covid-19 regulations that have been put in place by the European countries.
The suspension affects flights to France – Charles De Gaulle Airport, and the Netherlands – Schiphol Airport, through the month of February.
According to Kenya Airways, the new Covid-19 regulations in Europe have resulted in low demand for traveling services from the citizens who are required to stay within.
“The temporary suspension is due to the new Covid-19 regulations in Europe that have resulted in depressed demand,” said Kenya Airways in a statement released in Nairobi.
KQ says it expects to resume flights to France on March 3, 2021, and to the Netherlands on March 7, 2021, when the regulations are expected to be lessened.
Kenya Airways has been struggling for years to get out of a multi-billion loss and the coming of Covid-19 threatened to put the last nail on its coffin.
The airline has so far sent home thousands of employees and recently announced a 30 percent salary cut for those still working.
Currently, there are efforts to have it nationalized with the process being in its final stages, a move that will see the government of Kenya owning it 100 percent.
