A pastor from Kirinyaga who pleaded guilty for defiling and impregnating his two underage daughters has been sentenced to 140 years in jail.
Mr. John Gichiria, a pastor with a local church in Kirinyaga will serve 70 years for each offence and both will run concurrently.
John shocked Kenyans when he admitted that he had impregnated his two daughters. One of the girls delivered last year while the young one is due.
The sentence is the same as being sent to prison for life for there is no way that man is going to make out of that place alive. Residents have welcomed the court’s decision.
Cases of defilement have been on the rise during the Covid-19 pandemic period given that kids were not going to school and were left more exposed.
Stats show that more than 5000 girls are getting pregnant in Kenya daily. The Government and stakeholders have called on parents to be vigilant.
