Kenya Airways is set to begin direct flights to Italy’s Capital Rome following a near one year hiatus triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic in June. The direct flights will resume June 6 this year with two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Sundays.
“We are delighted to resume weekly flights to Rome and will continue to maintain an expanding schedule to various destinations across our network as countries ease travel restrictions,” said Julius Thairu, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer.
He added that their code-share partnership with Alitalia, offers their customers excellent connections in Rome to the rest of Italy, Europe, and the USA and in Nairobi to the rest of Africa including the Vanilla Islands.
Kenya Airways Chief Customer and Commercial Officer said that they will continue to maintain the highest safety measures before boarding and onboard our aircraft.
Early last year, Kenya suspended flights between Nairobi and Rome a day after it took a similar move on flights from northern Italy cities of Milan and Verona.
“We will rebook [customers] on alternative flights, extend a full refund to those who would like to cancel their travel, or waive booking fees for those willing to reschedule their flights,” KQ said.
The return of the flights will at the same time mark the resumption of KQ’s codeshare partnership with Alitalia which offers extended passenger connections for both carriers beyond the Nairobi and Rome hubs.
