1354 Test Positive, 28 Dead In 24 Hours From Covid-19

The third wave of Covid-19 sweeping across Kenya seems to be stronger than before. On Friday, 1,354 people tested positive while 28 died from the virus.

The currents scary stats from the Ministry of Health continue to emerge even as Kenyans continue to go against all the Covid-19 protocols laid down by the government.

The number of deaths on a single day on Friday was the highest, 13 months since the virus first hit the country. The ministry says more deaths are expected.

The total confirmed positive cases are now 118,889. Cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,402,480. Of the cases, 1,301 are Kenyans while 53 are foreigners.

Nairobi had 717 cases, Nakuru 174, Kiambu 100, Machakos 55, Kisumu 40, Mombasa 35, Trans Nzoia 28, Nandi 27, Kericho 25, Siaya 17, Bomet 13, Kajiado 13, Baringo 11, Kilifi 10, Taita Taveta 8, Meru 8, Nyandarua 8, Busia 7, Mandera 7, Kakamega 7, Makueni 6, Murang’a 5, Kitui 4.

The number of those being admitted to hospital has also shot up, and as of Friday, 830 are admitted in various health facilities while 2,332 are on home-based isolation and care.

As the cases continue to rise, Kenyans have gone back to normal lives. Nobody seems to care anymore. People are increasingly abandoning the use of masks compared to when the virus was first coming into the country.

Politicians are still attending funerals and holding huge rallies as if showing President Uhuru Kenyatta the middle finger on his directive to suspend gatherings.
