The third wave of Covid-19 in Kenya is getting worse. On Monday, 1,130 people tested positive, while 12 succumbed to the virus.
The positivity rate on Monday was at 22 percent, the highest rate since Covid-19 came knocking in Kenya. The sample size tested was 5,119.
The total number of confirmed cases in Kenya now stands at 122,040 while the total number of cumulative tests stands at 1,419,984.
At the same time, 754 patients recovered from the virus, taking the total number of recoveries to 90,376. But the number of those still admitted is worrying and the Ministry of Health is calling in Kenyans to be more vigilant.
The number of patients admitted to various facilities is 1,013. Those on home-based care are 3,003. At the same time, 120 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit.
In four days alone, a total of 69 Kenyans have died from Covid-19. And as things stand, Kenyans should expect more deaths in the coming days as they continue ignoring the Covid-19 protocols.

The Vaccines
Kenya procured 1.2 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine for Covid-19. More than 40 Kenyans including frontline workers have been vaccinated.
There is, however, a certain hesitation among frontline workers who have kept off from taking the vaccine for safety reasons. The Ministry of Health insists the vaccine is safe and ready to be used.
The Covid-19 Protocols
Kenyans seem to have abandoned all the Covid-19 protocols. People are not putting on masks, no social distancing, and no washing of hands like before.
Public service vehicles are carrying passengers to full capacity instead of the 60 percent capacity as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Churches are leading the way as superspreaders. People are going to church to sing, dance, and loudly pray without masks on. They are sharing microphones while believing that the blood of Jesus will protect them.
