Education CS Professor George Magoha released the much-anticipated KCSE results. Some candidates passed with flying colors while others did not. But what matters is all were results and now it is time to focus on the life ahead.
As the students now wait to join institutions of higher learning and other programs to shape their career path, there are various short courses that a student can pursue as he/she waits to join an institution. Here are 5 of them:
Computer Studies
The world has changed. Thanks to the ever-evolving technology. Computer skills are now a requirement in virtually every sector. More than 90 percent of public secondary schools in Kenya do not offer computer studies. The subject is optional.
Computer Studies (basics) takes at least one month or three months for more details. Having your son or daughter acquire these skills as he/she waits to join college is something you will never regret. It is affordable too.
Driving
Driving is becoming a basic need as the world changes. Driving is one of the easiest things that takes at least one month for one to learn how to drive. There are so many driving schools in major urban centers offering great training.

Writing
This sounds like a joke but so many young people are making a living from writing. Although the youngsters who just finished their fourth year in secondary school are still green, introduce them to writing. Let them familiarize themselves with writing simple pieces different from the composition.
Art
This bases on the talent of your child. If your child is into art, say drawing, painting, and designing fashion, enroll them in a short course that will give them a feel of real-life even as they plan to take the main course of their dreams.
Entrepreneurship
Yes. There are short courses being offered on entrepreneurship. Am not talking about motivational speaking but real entrepreneurship.
