TSC To Hire 10,000 Teachers; Here Are New Requirements And How To Apply

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised close to 10,000 new recruitment vacancies for teachers.

4,000 vacancies are for Secondary schools’ new recruitment to support the Government’s 100 percent transition policy from the primary.

Another 927 vacancies are to replace secondary school teachers who have left service due to natural attrition.

According to TSC CEO Nancy Macharia, the commission, 4,000 teachers to be employed on a permanent and pensionable term. 2,897 more will be hired to replace retired teachers in high schools.

Also advertised are 2,987 new vacancies for Primary schools’ new recruitment. Another 1,000 practicing teachers in primary schools will be promoted and deployed to secondary schools.

According to TSC Boss, Dr. Nancy Macharia, interested and qualified candidates should submit their applications online through the Commission’s website not later than July 12, 2021

To qualify for recruitment of the 4,000 secondary teachers, a candidate must be a Kenyan, holder of at least a diploma in education, and registered with TSC.

An applicant must be a Kenyan, hold a P1 certificate, or hold a bachelor’s degree in Education with two teaching subjects.

The candidates are also expected to have attained at least a mean grade of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination and a similar grade in two teaching subjects or their equivalent.

Additionally, applicants must ensure that certified copies of degree certificates and academic transcripts are filed to the Commission through TSC County Directors within one month of the date of this advertisement.

Applicants must file certified copies of their degree certificates and academic transcripts through TSC County Directors. Successful candidates will be appointed at T-Scale 7, and Grade C2.

New Requirements

In the new TSC requirement, teachers who have served under the internship program will be required to provide the intern certificates for them to score 10 marks for serving as interns.

Primary teachers are normally employed via a Competitive Selection Interview. During the section day, one should carry The national Identity card (ID), PTE certificate, CPE, KCPE certificate, School, College leaving certificate.

Applicants who applied for posts in secondary school must have attained a minimum of a Diploma Education Certificate.

Candidates who are interested should apply Secretary Board of management of the school where a vacancy has been advertised then submit a copy of the applicant to the TSC County.

Applications to be submitted online through www.tsc.go.ke under ‘careers’ or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

The developments come at a time when TSC and teachers’ unions are set to discuss the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) 2021-25. The employer is expected to promote teachers and increase their salaries too.
