Doing laundry has really changed. Many used to rely on their housegirls to do the laundry on weekends. Then came the age of mama fua (which is still on) but is slowly fading away as laundromats take over the washing.
Many people in cities and towns prefer the use of laundromats because they are fast, affordable and the majority of them offer great results in terms of cleanliness and ironing.
One laundromat that is revolutionizing how washing is done is Nyumbani Eco Laundry that is located in Zimmerman base opposite Penda medical Nairobi and doing all kinds of washing and disinfection of laundry for people within and without the city.
Nyumbani Eco Laundry banks on affordability with duvets being washed and cleaned for as little as 450 shillings.
They clean and disinfect clothes, duvets, suits, towels, and pillows. They also iron and package suits for customers at affordable prices.
The SME also has a subscription for every month where a customer pays 3000 shillings per month to be washed as from 10 kilograms weekly.
“We charge 95 bob per KG of clothes that is; Washing, dry and fold, then 50 per Kg for wash only. We also have offers every 1st week and last week of the month. We do pickups and deliveries within Thika Road,” says Elsy, who manages the shop.
