Popular fastfood eatery Sonford Fish and Chips went up in flames on Friday night. The food joint is located along Moi Avenue, Nairobi Central Business District.
Witnesses say fire at the eatery broke out at around 10 pm in what might have been an explosion of a gas cylinder.
The eatery is one of the longest serving food joint in Nairobi. It is known for its delicacies and affordability by many people within the city.
The eatery used to be among the fee that operated for 24 hours. This changed when the government imposed a curfew from 10 pm to 4 am to “cut down on the spread of Covid-19.”
Firefighters, who were just few meters away, arrived at the scene late and managed to put out the fire that had already razed down a large section of the building.
