The Energy Petroleum and Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has retained the prices of fuel ahead of the festive season.
The pump prices have been retained at 129.72 and 110.60 shillings per liter of super and diesel in Nairobi. Kerosene to retail at 103.54 shillings.
“Despite the increase in the landed costs, the applicable pump prices for this cycle have been maintained as per the ones applicable in the previous cycle. The Government will utilize the Petroleum Development Levy to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices,” said EPRA.
The retaining of the fuel prices comes at a time Kenyans are preparing to travel upcountry. Bus fares have already been hiked due to the high demand and the government has not outlined any measures to cushion Kenyans against extortion.
