Kenya’s gaming giant, SportPesa, has lowered the minimum stake to 10 shillings from 49 shillings for single and multi-bets, a move that is set to shift how people place and play on the platform.

“This is in response to requests by our customers on new offerings that they can engage in on our platform. It is simply us telling the customer that we are listening and this is just the beginning of what else is to come,” said SportPesa CEO Capt. Ronald Karauri.

With a lower stake, it means gamers will now have an opportunity to stake for more games as it was before. For instance, one needed 49 shillings for a bet, now, with the changes and with a similar amount, one can bet at least 5 times.

“We know what our customers want and we are here to make sure that they get what they want. We have lowered our stake from 49 shillings to 10 shillings for both single and multi-bets,” said SportPesa in a statement.

SportPesa has been making a raft of upgrades geared towards improving the gaming experience of users as well as saving them costs. The lowering of the stake follows another development where users can now bet via an SMS free of charge.

“You can now play with SportPesa by sending an SMS to 79079 free of charge. Initially, the service attracted a charge of 2 shillings.

The charges have now been dropped. You can play on any phone with no internet connection required. This will complement the existing platforms: the website, the SportPesa App, and the USSD,” said SportPesa.

SportPesa, since resuming operation has embarked on a mission that is both within and without sports. Apart from supporting talents and teams, the giant has massively been investing in the health sector, giving priority to maternal health.

Since the rollout of the Maternal Health Care program by SportPesa Foundation, the company has donated equipment to several public and mission hospitals in seven counties. These counties are Homabay, Narok, Kiambu, Meru, Nairobi, Bomet, Homabay, and Tharaka Nithi.
