Windhoek – A True Beer with a Tradition 100 Years Old

Windhoek Beer

Back in 1516, the Germans issued a decree known as the Reinheitsgebot in Ingolstadt; its purpose? To ban the use of wheat in beer so only water, barley and hops could be used.

The decree, which eventually became a law also served to prevent unscrupulous brewers from adding dubious toxic and even hallucinogenic ingredients to beer.

It is now over 500 years, and this philosophy still applies to German beer. In Africa, nothing is more Reinheitsgebot than Windhoek beer!

For nearly 100 years, Windhoek beer has been brewed in accordance with the stringent Reinheitsgebot law, producing the perfect beer using only three ingredients – malted barley, hops, and water.

Although it only remains by choice and not by law, Windhoek is a beer produced in Namibia and is a favorite among the lot across the globe, including Kenya.

Owned in a shareholding capacity by Namibia Breweries and Heineken, Windhoek beer is mainly manufactured for export, fueled by the legendary commitment to the ancient purity law.

The brewery’s flagship brand was Windhoek Lager. This beer is a supreme quality, naturally brewed lager with no additives or preservatives.

Full in flavor, the beer has an alcohol content of 4 percent and offers a long, rich, and slightly bitter crisp, clean finish.

Windhoek Lager is available in the Kenyan market in a 330-ml non-returnable bottle.

This beer, from an award-winning brand, has traveled the world, kissed the lips of famous celebrities, and it continues to remain true, real, and remarkably satisfying.

Apart from the Windhoek Lager, Windhoek Draught is also available in Kenya. Not only is it equally popular as the Lager, but has, for that matter won awards across the world and it remains a favorite among many.

Windhoek Draught is an easy-drinking, deliciously smooth, and ultra-refreshing beer from a country that understands the need for quality liquid refreshment, as Namibia is one of the driest in the world.

It is a session-able lager offering the full draught experience straight from the bottle. This beer is extraordinarily fresh, full-flavored, and has a slightly sweeter finish than the Windhoek Lager. It has no additives, no preservatives, and is suitable for vegans.

Windhoek Draught has an ABV of 4 percent and is available in a 440-ml non-returnable bottle in Kenya.

Luckily, here in Kenya, you can have a taste of this great Reinheitsgebot without a hustle. Better yet, you can become a distributor!
