Shadrack Chepkwony a 20-year-old Man narrowly escaped death after enraged residents of the Kapsinendet area in Chepalungu, Bomet County burned down his home over witchcraft allegations.
The residents held a gathering at Kapsinendet shopping center on Sunday to deliberate on the supposed witchcraft within their village and later on proceeded to Shadrak’s home and burned down two houses and his shop. This is according to the Police Boss of the Chepalungu sub-county Nelson Masai.
According to one of the residents, the victim has been behind a series of sorcery and witchcraft and has also enticed five people into joining the practice. He also claimed that several households in the village have so far lost their dairy cows over the practice and they believe Shadrak has been performing witchcraft.

As the police continue to investigate the allegations, Nelson stated that those behind the attack will be arrested and arraigned. He also warned members of the public against taking laws into their hands.
Witchcraft is a traditional form of practicing and using magic or supernatural powers to harm others and when found practicing, a lot of communities will destroy your property or kill you to prevent you from practicing the act and harming people.
Today many societies have employed death by burning as a form of punishment for and warning to members especially when found practicing crimes such as Witchcraft, treason, or heresy.
