Commission-based jobs are roles that are paid in part by earning a cut, or a payment that is calculated based on how many successful sales goals or quotas you meet during a given time period.
These jobs are mostly based on sales and nowadays they are one of the easiest jobs you can apply and get if only you are skilled in Marketing and you are patient enough.
If you want to apply for such a job, here are some of the advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages.
- You have your own schedule
If the job is not full-time, you have the time to choose when to work to generate profits and earn your income. This means you have enough time to draft your personal time and work time.
- You can control your income.
When you want more money, you will push yourself to work harder so that the commission rates will increase.
- You will know how you are performing in terms of sales.
With this type of work, you have the ability to know how you are doing in terms of sales, if the sales are high or low you will definitely know. This way, you know if you are getting more money or less.
- Most of the time you will be independent
If you are hitting the target and generating more sales, your boss will probably not be on your case and therefore you will be working independently without any pressure.

Disadvantages of Commission-Based Jobs
Below are some of the disadvantages of these jobs;
- Income Fluctuation
When it comes to this job, income can fluctuate, some days the income might be more and other days due to low sales the income will be little. If you are looking for a job with a steady income like monthly or weekly, this will be hard for you to manage well.
- You will need to know how to work remotely.
The majority of commission-only jobs are done remotely. If you’re the kind of person who thrives on the company felt by working with colleagues every day, it might be hard to transition to working independently.
- There is no security for your work
Commission-based jobs also put the employer in the know, if you are not making any commissions or reaching the targets then losing your job will be so easy.
