The chickens have finally come home to roost after the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) decided to suspend Kenya from all international football tournaments citing “government interference” in the matters of football.
According to FIFA, the government of Kenya, through the Ministry of Sports has been harassing the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF) without adhering to laws and regulations set by FIFA. The suspension is indefinite and might end any time soon.
Sports CS Amina Mohamed disbanded the defunct Football Kenya Federation (FKF) after a long battle between FKF and the Ministry of Sports over what has been termed as massive corruption and the mismanagement of sports by the Sports body.

The ban means Kenya will not participate in all international football competitions. The local football tournaments will, however, proceed. Fifa president Infantino said Kenya knows what to do to get back in action. “They know what needs to be done for them to be readmitted or for their suspensions to be lifted.”
At the same time, Zimbabwe received the same punishment from FIFA after the government of Zimbabwe was accused of interfering with football matters in the country.
