The price of crude oil is the major factor that determines the retail prices of both petrol and gasoline worldwide.
In the recent updates, the price of crude oil in the global market has climbed as high as USD 130 per barrel due to the Russia Ukraine war that has caused disruptions of almost all the other commodities in various countries that heavily depend on the two nations for the same.
As many as 45 countries out of 170 have a price below 1 USD dollar. A total of 74 countries have between USD 1.00-1.50 while 25 have between USD 1.50-2.00. Meanwhile, another 26 have over USD 2.
Among the top ten countries with the cheapest petrol prices, four countries are located in Asia and Africa each and one each in South America in Europe.

Globally, Hong Kong has the most expensive price at USD 2.83, followed by Norway while Venezuela has the cheapest price at USD 0.60.
In Africa, only 12 out of 43 countries have a price above USD 1. Zimbabwe tops the list with the most expensive petrol at USD 2.15 (248.22 shillings) per liter while Libya has the cheapest petrol at USD 0.03 (3.46 shillings) per liter.
Kenya is number 17 in Africa at USD 1.15 (132.77 shillings ) per liter.
