With the Communication Authority’s (CA) extension of the registration deadline to October 15, you can now ensure that your SIM Card details are up to date to avoid further hassles.
Lucky for you, Safaricom now has a fast, accurate, user-friendly, and secure portal that you can utilize to avoid your line being switched off.
The solution is simple, and all customers will now be able to register themselves in seconds with their phones! Instead of visiting a Safaricom shop and filling out paperwork, you can open the portal through this link and carry out the process.
However, to make the process a little faster, you need to have your documents ready: a Front ID picture and a Back ID picture.
Here is a quick procedure to help you finish the process in less than a minute:
- Open the online portal using this link
- Enter Phone Number and accept the terms – This should be your primary phone number
- Accept the terms
- A One Time PIN will be sent to your number. Enter this OTP in the next step and verify to proceed.
- Select the correct numbers you identify as yours and click “Next.” The numbers registered to your ID will be shown. (The numbers you have not recognized will be retained, and their registration will be verified. If not claimed within the next 30 days, the lines will be recycled).
- Provide documentation proof in the next step. Here, you take a picture of your Original National ID (Front and Back) on a flat white surface and make sure that the details are visible.
- After uploading the files, click on “Verify,” and you are done!
Registering your ID is necessary to prevent SIM card-related crime. Nowadays, fraudsters and criminals can use your ID to register their numbers and vice-versa for use in illegal activities. Luckily, you can now protect yourself and link only your numbers to your national ID.
