Kenya’s gaming giant, SportPesa, lowered the minimum stake to 10 shillings from 49 shillings for single and multi-bets, a move that shifted how people play on the gaming platform. This means that someone who would place one bet at 49 shillings, can now place at least 5 bets/multi bets.
While implementing the new stake in December 2021, CEO Capt. Ronald Karauri said, “This is in response to requests by our customers on new offerings that they can engage in on our platform.”

“It is simply us telling the customer that we are listening and this is just the beginning of what else is to come,” he added. “We know what our customers want and we are here to make sure that they get what they want. We have lowered our stake from 49 shillings to 10 shillings for both single and multi-bets.”
At the same time, users can now play via an SMS free of charge. “You can now play with SportPesa by sending an SMS to 79079 free of charge. Initially, the service attracted a charge of 2 shillings. You can play on any phone with no internet connection required. This will complement the existing platforms: the website, the SportPesa App, and the USSD,” said SportPesa.
